Healthcare IoT

Healthcare IoT

Consider device data connectivity within the wider clinical and operational system design.

Discuss your requirements

Healthcare IoT, explained

Connect equipment information around a clearly defined care environment.

Connected devices can help organisations locate equipment, understand environmental conditions and exchange information with supported applications. In a healthcare setting, the significance of the data and the responsibilities around it need to be established before a connectivity service is selected.

We can discuss the communication route for a defined project with the organisation and its device or application specialists. A mobile service does not validate a medical device, provide a clinical monitoring service or establish that an alert will be acted upon. Radian's role is to help coordinate the scoped connectivity and business-technology requirements.

What it can do for your organisation

Practical benefits.
A clearer business fit.

01

Visibility of equipment and locations

Asset-reporting applications can help staff understand the last recorded position or status of suitable equipment. The project should make the age and source of a reading clear, especially where devices move between buildings or stop communicating for a period.

02

A route for supported device information

Some equipment exchanges information with a designated application through mobile or local connectivity. Reviewing that route can help coordinate device compatibility, access and the management of the connection. The equipment's intended use and clinical suitability remain with the responsible specialists.

03

A manageable deployment lifecycle

Keep a consistent record of devices, SIMs, installation details and support owners. This helps plan replacements and investigate reporting gaps. A repeatable process is particularly useful where similar equipment is used across several premises or by different operational teams.

Make an informed choice

The options and details
worth understanding.

01

The meaning and timing of information

Distinguish equipment location, environmental telemetry and patient-related information rather than treating them as the same workload. Identify which system captures the reading, which application interprets it and how delayed or missing information is shown. Connectivity should fit the required data task and its assessed significance.

02

Access and information handling

Review how equipment authenticates and where information is transmitted and stored. User permissions, device administration and records of changes need appropriate owners. A private addressing or networking option can support an access design, but does not replace the organisation's wider information-governance arrangements.

03

Power, availability and escalation

Devices, local gateways and receiving applications have separate dependencies. Establish how the full system responds to loss of power, connectivity or application access. Any alert-handling or care-related response needs its own validated process; it should not be inferred from a SIM's connection status.

Put the choices in context

How this can fit your world

From a service description
to a practical requirement.

Illustrative scenario

An organisation reviewing equipment availability

A project could focus on asset-location messages from compatible tracking equipment. The trial should check the actual buildings and reporting behaviour, with the application clearly distinguishing last-reported positions from current certainty. The connectivity service supports the data route rather than guaranteeing equipment will be found.

Illustrative scenario

Environmental information across premises

A team may want a central view of readings from supported sensors in several buildings. The discussion can bring device compatibility, gateway access and message handling together. Decisions about sensor validation and the action taken on a reading remain part of the separately defined operational system.

From planning to everyday use

Delivery with the details
thought through.

  1. 01

    Define the purpose

Identify the equipment, information and intended application. Establish which specialists own device suitability and any care-related function.

  2. 02

    Map the complete route

Review power, local connections, mobile service and destination systems. Assign ownership of access, information handling and support.

  3. 03

    Test representative conditions

Use approved equipment and an agreed assessment process. Check delayed messages, missing data and the stated behaviour during interruptions.

  4. 04

    Maintain the operating record

Document mappings, configuration and support contacts. Review replacements and changes with the responsible organisation and equipment specialists.

Your proposal confirms the available features, supported platforms and delivery responsibilities. Product availability and individual service commitments depend on the selected agreement.

A little more clarity

Useful answers
before you decide.

Have a question specific to your setup? Tell us about the systems, users and locations involved.

IoT use cases overview →
Does connectivity provide a medical monitoring service?

No. Connectivity is one component of a wider system. Medical-device suitability, clinical interpretation and the response to an alert require their own appropriate validation and operating arrangements.

Can you connect equipment across several sites?

We can discuss that requirement around the devices and applications involved. Coverage, local infrastructure and access need checking for each relevant environment rather than assumed from one successful location.

Can asset tracking be reviewed separately from clinical systems?

Yes. A clearly bounded asset-information project can have its own requirements and responsibilities. The design should avoid implying clinical functionality that is outside the agreed scope.

Does a private APN settle information security requirements?

No. It can form one part of a networking design. Device access, applications, storage, people and the organisation's information-governance requirements still need appropriate attention.

What should an initial enquiry include?

Describe the equipment and purpose, the locations, the receiving application and the specialists already involved. Avoid sending patient information in a general website enquiry; the first discussion can establish the appropriate project scope.

UK-wide service enquiries

Healthcare IoT across the UK.

For health-related deployments, define the device purpose, supported connectivity and information flows with the responsible team. Clinical suitability, data protection and any safety-critical requirements need their own assessment alongside network planning.

Based in Charlwood, we welcome enquiries nationwide, with a particular focus on Horley, Crawley, Gatwick, Surrey, Sussex and London. Delivery, availability and any site attendance are confirmed for your chosen service.

What does connected
look like for you?

A new site. A stronger connection. A simpler phone setup. Tell us where you want to get to and we’ll help connect the next steps.
